Despite these signs, they remain in a usable condition, suitable for continued medical procedures. The Synthes 395.902 Protection Sleeve is a dual-ended sterile guide sleeve designed for use in mini external fixator systems. It accommodates K-wires or guide pins of 1.2 mm and 1.6 mm diameters and measures approximately 4-5/8 inches (about 117 mm) in length. During frame assembly or pin insertion, this sleeve safeguards surrounding soft tissue, preventing unintended damage or inadvertent pin movement thanks to its protective casing. Crafted from surgical-grade stainless steel, the 395.902 protection sleeve features a smooth internal bore that ensures safe passage for pins while minimizing friction. Its dual-ended design provides versatility, enabling it to fit both 1.2 mm and 1.6 mm wires commonly encountered in bone fragment stabilization.
